The Problem with Modern AI SaaS
Most AI-powered tools on the market today follow a familiar, bloated pattern. They lock you into expensive monthly subscriptions, capture heavy margins on top of raw API costs, or proxy all your requests through their own centralized servers. We wanted to build Sprout differently. Sprout is a highly focused local terminal tool designed for one specific job: diagnosing and fixing PATH and developer tool installations. Keeping the tool open-source, local-first, and completely free of subscription lock-ins was essential to our design.
Bring Your Own Pollen (BYOP)
Instead of charging a subscription or requiring you to trust us with your private API keys, Sprout integrates directly with the Pollinations BYOP device flow. You authorize Sprout in your browser via your Pollinations account, and the CLI securely uses your Pollen credit balance.
